Testing for High Temperature PEM Fuel Cells

HT-PEM technology (high-temperature polymer electrolyte membrane) is a further development of PEM fuel cell technology. In contrast to conventional PEM fuel cells, which operate at lower temperatures, HT-PEM fuel cells can reach temperatures of up to 200°C. This higher operating temperature enables the use of more cost-effective catalysts and simplifies thermal management, resulting in improved system performance and wider applicability in various fields such as stationary energy supply or mobile applications. The higher operating temperature also makes the system more tolerant to impurities in the fuel, which also enables the use of reformate gases.

With minor adaptations to our Evaluator LT product range, we can also implement solutions for the validation of high-temperature PEM fuel cells on request. Similar to SOFC technology, the gases are heated to a temperature of up to 200 °C using additional options such as gas heaters. Humidification, as with low-temperature PEM fuel cells, is not necessary due to the special membrane of the test specimen. For liquid-cooled test specimens, the systems are equipped with adapted temperature control circuits.

We offer:
