HORIBA FuelCon at Hannover Fair 2025

Magdeburg-Barleben, April 8, 2025

The main theme “Shaping the future with technology” at HANNOVER MESSE 2025 offered more than 300 exhibitors at the “Hydrogen + Fuel Cells EUROPE” group exhibition in Hall 13 the opportunity to showcase their technological highlights. The focus was on large-scale systems for the production of green hydrogen as well as industrial manufacturing solutions for hydrogen components. In addition, numerous exhibitors presented fuel cell solutions-primarily in the PEM sector-as well as complete system applications.

This industrial diversity was also reflected in HORIBA’s presence at the trade fair. As a company, we presented solutions along the entire hydrogen value chain. With the three focus areas “Analytical Solutions,” “Mobility,” and “Test Systems for Fuel Cells and Electrolyzers,” HORIBA not only offered in-depth content but also practical insights through various demo devices.

Together with colleagues from across Europe, HORIBA FuelCon was on site to competently represent the business units. As a global competence center for fuel cells and electrolyzers, we had the opportunity to present our test systems not only in terms of content but also with hands-on demonstrations.

Guests at the booth

HANNOVER MESSE, as the world’s leading industrial trade fair, attracts numerous guests and high-ranking visitors every year. This year, in addition to visits from HORIBA management-represented by Oliver Rothe, Dr. Ingo Benecke, Michael Conrad, Kazufumi Uie, and Hiromi Harada-the focus was particularly on exchanges with political representatives and ministries.

A special highlight was the visit of Japan’s Ambassador to Germany, H.E. Mitsuko Shino. Using the broad HORIBA portfolio, we were able to impressively convey the company’s relevance for the hydrogen market. Her colleague, Shinsuke Toda, Consul General of Japan in Hamburg, focused during his visit on potential support approaches for business activities in northern Germany.

From Saxony-Anhalt, Stefanie Pötzsch, State Secretary at the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Tourism, Agriculture and Forestry, visited the HORIBA stand. She learned about current developments in the hydrogen industry as well as structural challenges and potential for the region.

Dr. Jürgen Ude, State Secretary for Major Investments and Structural Change in the State Chancellery and the Ministry of Culture of Saxony-Anhalt, also a long-time companion of HORIBA, visited the stand. He received comprehensive information about the planned ramp-up of fuel cell and electrolyzer technologies-with the clear goal of continuing to actively support this development in the region.

HORIBA Speaker

In addition to an extensive booth setup and a wide range of sales materials-both in the presentation app and on the landing page-HORIBA once again impressed with three presentations in the Public and Technical Forum.

The program opened with Dr. Simone Eichmann’s presentation, “Challenges of Exhaust Gas Monitoring for Hydrogen-Fueled ICE Engines.” She addressed a current challenge in vehicle development and presented the MEXAcube, a suitable HORIBA solution for exhaust gas monitoring in hydrogen-powered combustion engines.

In the Public Forum, Michael Conrad spoke about “Driving Development: Meeting Market Needs with Cutting-Edge Test Solutions.” He presented HORIBA’s broad hydrogen portfolio and emphasized how crucial experience and reliability are for customers in a rapidly evolving market environment.

The technical lecture series concluded with Niels Müller’s presentation, “Safe Automation of Complex Test Scenarios for Electrolyzers & Fuel Cells.” He outlined the requirements for the safe operation of complex test scenarios and demonstrated the HORIBA TESTWORK® automation platform in a practical way using demo software.

Focus Saxony-Anhalt

Beyond the hydrogen stage, Birgit Bartsch and Lukas Rugenstein also presented at the Saxony-Anhalt state booth. As representatives of a flagship company in the international talent campaign “Sachsen-Anhalt kann’s halt,” they provided personal insights into everyday working life at HORIBA. Openly and authentically, they reported on what it is like to work in a globally operating company-with all its opportunities and challenges. The discussion also successfully bridged to the future field of hydrogen.
