Mitsuko Shino, the first woman in Japanese diplomacy, visits HORIBA FuelCon
Magdeburg-Barleben, 10. July 2025
At the beginning of July, we had the honor of welcoming Ms. Mitsuko Shino, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Japan to the Federal Republic of Germany, to the HORIBA eHUB in Barleben. An initial personal exchange took place earlier this year at the Hannover Messe, which was now followed up with this visit to Barleben. Since November 2024, Ms. Shino has been the first Japanese Ambassador to Germany and serves as the key contact for the Japanese community as well as for the political and economic relations between Japan and Germany. Her interest in our technology portfolio was already evident during her visit to our exhibition stand in Hannover – and now the wish to experience the HORIBA eHUB in person has been fulfilled.
Technology Meets Diplomacy
During her visit, Ms. Shino gained comprehensive insights into our testing and manufacturing solutions for fuel cells and electrolyzers. Managing Director Kazufumi Uie introduced the HORIBA Group, its history, and corporate culture, and presented innovative technologies and application scenarios, particularly in the field of hydrogen as a sustainable energy source—a topic that sparked great interest. A subsequent tour of the production facilities provided further insight into the workflows at HORIBA FuelCon GmbH. Julian Hartung, Head of Manufacturing, explained the processes at various test stands.
Seeing is Believing
We sincerely thank Ambassador Shino for her visit and the open dialogue. Personal encounters like this underscore the importance of direct exchange and bring the innovative power and scale of our technologies to life—true to the motto: Seeing is believing.
