Official opening of the HORIBA eHUB in Magdeburg-Barleben

On September 12, 2022, HORIBA FuelCon celebrated the opening of the HORIBA eHUB in Magdeburg-Barleben with numerous guests. Built in a record time of 18 months, the eHUB claims its place within the HORIBA Group as global center of excellence for FuelCells, Batteries and Electrolyzers.

"This is an important investment for us," says Atsushi Horiba, Chairman & Group CEO of the HORIBA Group. Important because the international need of energy security is extremely important and HORIBA Group from the eHUB, contributes to the realization of a hydrogen society. The demand for clean energy technologies is rising - and HORIBA is responding. With an investment of EUR 30 million, the world's largest and most modern production facility for testing and manufacturing fuel cells, electrolyzers and batteries was created. The state of Saxony-Anhalt is supporting the eHUB project with around EUR 3 million.

Almost 300 people attended the official opening. The employees of HORIBA FuelCon GmbH celebrated together with guests of honor from the state, politics, business and the press. Mr. Horiba, Ralph Lauxmann, President and CTO of HORIBA Europe and Dr. Ingo Benecke, Managing Director HORIBA FuelCon, unveiled a 3D model of the HORIBA eHUB together with Dr. Jürgen Ude, State Secretary for Structural Change and Major Settlements in the State Chancellery of Saxony-Anhalt and Prof. Dr. Jens Strackeljan, Rector of Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg, on the day of celebration.

The new production site of HORIBA FuelCon GmbH offers space for up to 325 employees on 7,000 square meters of production area and around 3,000 square meters of office space. Around 150 employees currently work at the site.
